It is with great sadness Barkston Ash District FA announce that our longest serving council member (54 years), Ivor Reed (aged 97) has sadly passed away on the 28th September 2026. Ivor has been involved in Barkston Ash FA football pre-1950, the first mention we have of Ivor Reed is a photo of him in the winning side of the Barkston Ash Leigh Walker Cup in season 1951-1952. He continued to play and manage for various teams throughout the 50s/60s and in the 1972 he joined the Barkston Ash District FA as a council member and also managed the Under 17 Representative side. We awarded him a 50 year service award for services to Barkston Ash FA in 2022. In November 2025 he was invited to the Royal Box at Wembley by The FA to watch England and was presented with an award to mark 75 years service to grassroots football. Ivor was a true gentleman and will be sorely missed by us all at the Barkston Ash FA where we would all like to pass our condolences to his family and friends. RIP Ivor
