BARKSTON ASH FA UNDER 17's
Barkston Ash played their last group
game of the season on 29th of Jan v Huddersfield ,and a good sized crowd
at Selby Towns Ridgid Group Stadium saw a very good game of football.
Jack Stocks and Harry Brighton of Thorpe Utd and Goole u19s both made
their debuts as did Jackson Walker of Collingham, Jacks has been with us
all season but due to school trips and injury, had missed the first 2
games. After an even first 25 mins Ash took the lead with Jackson Walker
bravely in from a Harry Brighton pin point cross. Huddersfield were given
a lifeline when 2 minutes before half time when their winger was adjudged
to have being fouled by a Barkston Ash defender, the resulting penalty
sending the sides in 1-1 at the interval.
The smaller Home side looked to be tiring on a very heavy pitch and on
65 minutes
Huddersfield took the lead Barkston Ash hit back and after a couple of
near things Walker scored his 2nd goal and the sides were level again at
2-2.Two more goals in the last 10 mins won the game for Huddersfield , but
the Barkston Ash side can walk away with their heads held high after
giving their all and conducting their selves in a exemplary manner, not
only in this game but through out training and the other group games.
Thanks to all the squad some players did
not get as much game time as some others but they were just as important
to the strength of the squad and thank you to them. Thank you Peter Bryant
the Collingham U17 manager and Carl Mathews of Garforth Rangers u17s
,their support and help as been invaluable, as has the support of
all the parents in getting their sons and others sons to training and
games. Finally thank you to coaches Ritch, Des, and secretery Tony for all
their work in training and match days, and thanks the Barkston Ash
committee and Mrs Robinson for the after match catering for players and
officials.
If any players, Parents , or Managers of currant u16 teams who feel they
are good enough to step up and play at District Level please contact me on
07879-652-781 and i will discuss or forward details of next seasons
tournament to you . Any player must be under 17 on the 31st of August
2012,
thanks Graham |
