Barkston Ash reached their first Minor Cup Final for 12 years beating Bradford FA in the semi final at Fleet Lane. Now Leeds FA stood between them and the trophy they have waited 21 years to win.

An even first half saw Leeds squander a decent chance shooting wide when well placed. Michia Williams broke clear to go 1 v 1 with the Leeds keeper who got down well to block his shot.

The second half again was very tight but Leeds were lucky to see a thundering shot from Josh Morley cannon against the angle of the post and bar. Five minutes later another goal bound effort this time from Charlie Yeats was turned away for a corner.

The game now went to extra time and with four mins of the second period remaining Barkston Ash attacked down the right and Danny Powells inch perfect cross was headed into the Leeds net by Miciah Williams.

Leeds now searched for the equalizer but were caught on the break when a superb pass from Josh Morley sent Michia Williams away to run from the halfway line, hold his nerve and beat the keeper for his and Barkston Ash second goal.

A really strong performance from all the lads, Keeper Adam Walters was excellent in goal and made a brilliant save from a Leeds free kick. The back four of Tom Harker, Matthew Pascal, Jake Clark and Lewis Hirst handled all that Leeds had to offer. The Midfield of Danny Powell, Josh Baron, Ash Wood and Josh Morley were excellent and strikers Charlie Yeats and Miciah Williams were a constant threat to the Leeds back 4. Subs Ash Wainright and Harry Copley did well when they came on while Callum Vause, Ronan Collier-Booth and Brandon Linley all remained on the bench but all played a great part in getting the team the trophy. Unfortunately, John Hubball, Josh Jepson and Matty Powell were all forced to miss the final through injury.

The Barkston Ash side grew stronger as the tournement progressed and consecutive wins over Huddersfield, Bradford and Leeds underline that point.

WELL DONE to all the squad for this season, everyone has shown great committment in training and games.

A BIG THANK YOU to all the parents for your help in getting players to games and training, to Simon Booker whos Aberford U16's provided us with ten players, Coaches Des and Craig and all the Barkston Ash Committee for their patient 21 year wait.
