The Barkston Ash District Football Association is one of the 13 District Associations that are affiliated to The West Riding County Football Association.

The Association was inaugurated as a District Association in 1906,  covers an area which stretches from the York boundary in the east to the Leeds boundary at Woodlesford in the west, and from the Harrogate area in the north to the Goole F.A.'s area in the south of the county. All the clubs in the towns and villages of this large area are affiliated to us, with more than a hundred teams involved.

The Association provides competitions for open age clubs, and also organises competitions for Junior clubs at under 16, under 14 and under 12 years of age. The Association also enters a representative team at under 17 years of age in the West Riding County F.A. Minor Cup competition.      

The association organises the following cup competitions each year:-                      

                        The Barkston Ash Challenge Cup.
                        The Templenewsam Cup.
                        The Burton Cup.
                        The Barkston Ash JB Plows Sunday Cup.
                        The Barkston Ash Junior Cup.
                        The Deighton Shield
                        The Leigh Walker Junior Cup.

In addition to the organisation of the above mentioned competitions, the Association is also responsible for the training, examination and assessment of referees within the Barkston Ash area..
